Doctor Who: The Complete Third Series

What can I say?
David Tennant, Doctor Who, a big blue box? What's not to love? I can watch these episodes again and again. The stories are interesting and fun. You can think, or not, of a deeper meaning in most of the episodes. I have five of the seasons, plus the David Tennant Movies, and will be buying the last two seasons soon. Martha Jones brings a real doctor to the show, and saved the doctor medically more than once, but I have to say Donna Noble was my favorite companion.

cool show
this was ordered for my son who loves watching dr who, this is a great show for him, thank you.

Great DVD
The DVDs are in great condition and they play very well on the player. I'm glad I got this now I can catch up on doctor who.

Cranford: The Collection

The impeccable Cranford and RTC in a value for money boxed set
Cranford Collection
Cranford (2008)

Cranford aka the Cranford Chronicles, based on Elizabeth Gaskell's story is a stellar production. It is a lush period drama and is very authentic in its portrayal of people living in a little hamlet called Cranford. The sets are beautiful as are the costumes, and of course the production is elevated to a level of excellence by its impeccable casting. Writer Heidi Thomas does a wonderful job of adapting Elizabeth Gaskell's story [purportedly based on Gaskell's own hometown] and though liberties are taken, the stellar cast more than makes up for whatever deficiencies there may be in the faithfulness of the adaptation. Dame Eileen Atkins [Miss Deborah Jenkins] and Dame Judi Dench [Miss Matty Jenkins] portray two spinster sisters in 1842 who live in the little town of Cranford. Far from being a quiet little hamlet, this little town hums with activity and village gossips, especially a Miss Pole [Imelda Staunton]who flits around from one...

Beautifully done...
I happened to catch part of this story on PBS and was so intrigued that I just had to have the series. I was not disappointed as it was quality performances and the DVD quality was top notch. Anyone who loves these types of movies will be delighted with the Cranford series.

Cranford/Return to Cranford
This is an excellent movie with a cast to match. It was wonderful entertainment and enjoyment. I recommend it for anyone interested in the time period.

Doctor Who: The Complete Fourth Series

"JOURNEY'S END?".....not on your life SUNSHINE!!
The major dynamic of Doctor Who has always been one of change, after all it IS a show about a 900+ year-old face-swapping, regenerating Timelord with no-fixed-abode, each week an entirely new location, with a new cast of characters. It's because of this dynamic that the series has had such (multimedia) longevity. With series 4, of the new series we see a continuation of this, with the return of Donna Noble from the Christmas Invasion Special of 2006. But, this isn't the same Donna, she herself has changed as a character for having adventured with the Doctor, although she still, thankfully, is not as in awe of the Doctor as Rose in series 1, or in love as Rose in series 2, or struck love-sick with the unobtainable man as Martha in series 3. Donna has a unique perspective on the Doctor and his universe, almost seeing herself as an equal, if unsure of her abilities, but not so completely trusting of the Doctor. As Rose grew into the role of companion, so does Donna, but her journey isn't...

The incredible highs compensate...
...for the occasional lows.

Doctor Who: Series Four was, in my opinion, superior to the previous three series'. Yes, there were low points, but each series has had those. For this series, the writers - as a collective whole - did a fantastic job of dropping clues here and there, and there was a sense of anticipation as the series went from one episode to the next; quite simply, the building up to the finale was masterfully done.

After a questionable start, Catherine Tate really kicked it into high-gear as the newest companion, Donna Noble, and she has become my favorite companion of the revived series. Donna brought a maturity, wisdom and warmth, as well as a sense of humor, that Rose and Martha simply could not deliver. She also wasn't trotting behind the Doctor, all pie-eyed like a puppy dog, completely infatuated with him, and that was a welcome change. To me, Donna was in it for the sheer joy and adventure, in the greatest tradition of the Doctor Who legacy,...

Occasionally uneven, but also occasionally brilliant
One of the great things about the modern-day Doctor Who is how, each season, the episodes build off each other to help create truly epic and rewarding finales. This has never been more true than in the 4th season of this fantastic series.

This year, the Doctor takes on his third human companion, Donna Noble, who actually appeared in the season 3 premiere. While it's a rocky start for the pair--Donna lacks Rose Tyler's sense of wonder or Martha Jones's intelligent wit--she proves to fill the role admirably. Among their adventures: A meeting with Agatha Christie, a history-bending visit to ancient Pompeii, and the threat of foes both old and new.

But (SPOILERS AHEAD) the real treat of season four is the welcome (albiet somewhat brief) return of Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. And not just Rose, but ALL of the Doctor's recent companions, plus Torchwood - The Complete First Season's Capt. Jack...

Merlin: The Complete First Season

A story that starts out simple, but grows deeper and bigger!
I absolutely enjoyed this show. The first episode hit on that the relationship between Merlin, the young magician, and Arthur, the prince of Camelot is essential and very important. As they meet, they both sort of hate each other, but destiny brings them together, like two sides of one coin for a reason. The first episode also made it clear that Magic is forbidden in this land, so it is intriguing to see how everything would turn out. If you give this show a chance, you will be surprised by twists and turns of the events. Unexpected story, like suspense, that's what come to my mind. Everything in the story is important as things will come together and make more sense.

The things I like the best are:

1. Great setting. The castle in this TV show is real and it's astonishing! It is one of the best castles in France. Some scenes also take place in Wales and the woods are so magical. I donno how they do it, but the whole setting, the nature, the castles are very...

Quite possibly the best show of the summer.
That's not saying much, considering that Reality TV seems to be taking over everywhere, and there is NOTHING else on this summer.

It may not be THE-ABSOLUTE-BEST-THING-EVER-ON-TV-EVER!!, but this UK import is pretty darn good. Solid 4 stars. I started watching the first couple on Hulu, and now I'm sort of hooked. I'm usually a wait-to-see-it-on-Hulu person, but I've been flipping on my TV Sunday nights to help get the Nielsen ratings up. I hope this show isn't cancelled, at least they finished out season 1 in the UK! Looking forward to season 2 (i hope!!) and to seeing what these promising actors will do after this!

So, 4 stars for giving me hope in scripted, serialized TV. Thank you, BBC.

EDIT: I forgot to mention what a great family show this is. A few scenes/themes might be a bit scary for smaller children, but there's no language, and I can't remember the last time I saw a show featuring a bunch of 20-somethings who WEREN'T sleeping with...

Fantastic Show !!!! 5 + Stars
This new BBC series Merlin is one of the Best Shows I have ever watched ! I have seen every episode and I live in the US. Have downloaded and watched all the shows. The actors are great and so is Anthony Head as King Uther. Anthony Head as all recall played Giles on Buffy The Vampire Slayer..

It is filled with much magic and fun and great in my opinion for all ages but not too young for it my scare the little ones... All the on location filming from a real castle in France and other sites in the U.K. are amazing . This is a must see series to watch. I have read that it is supposed to be broadcast here in the US soon maybe and will be released on DVD but not known if it will be in Region 1 for US.. If you can find it on the internet and download all the episodes and watch as you are drawn into the story wanting to watch again and again to find out what Meriln's destiny is.....and best of all when you download them ..No Commercials !! YEA!!!
