Gunsmoke: The Seventh Season, Vol. 1

It's Time For Full Gunsmoke Season Releases, CBS.
There are 14 seasons of Gunsmoke still unreleased on DVD (28 volumes). Bonanza and Rawhide are out in full seasons on the same day, by CBS, so please crank up the Gunsmoke output, too, as none of us are getting any younger!

One-Hour Episodes Begin!!
Can't review a product not yet released but can talk about the quality of the shows. Although it took a few episodes for the writers to adjust to the one-hour format & decide how to fill twice as much time, these are still classic shows...and soon the longer format allowed for more characterization and complex plots. The best news is that (so far) the studio is charging the same amount for the longer shows as for the 1/2-hour episodes. Also, they seem to be releasing them at a much faster pace. Hope they maintain both practices (doesn't seem that we'll see complete-season sets anytime soon).

hope I live long enough to see all of them
Love the series, grew up with it. Hope I live another 15 years to be able to watch them all again. Please put them out quarterly to accommodate us old folks.

A Gifted Man (2011-2012)

I like it !
This DVD set takes me back to the 70's on Saturday mornings, when life was good and care free. Get it !

Good Show
Poor dvd production. No closed captioning, no counter for the player and no way to hold your place and return later. You must start over each time.
If CBS did this, they must have been trying to save a buck.

loved this DVD and the extras.
Since this series was cancelled, I have been patiently waiting for this to come out. Loved the deleted scenes and the gag reel at the end. Thank you Amazon. Keep up the good work.

Californication: Seasons 1-5

Horrible
I love this show but the quality of these dvds were horrible. Amost as if they had been bootlegged. The last couple of episodes on all the disc started tiling and were very grainy. I would not recommend anyone buy these disc.

Not used, re-burnt
The first disc loaded into the machine and played fitfully... in places the picture devolved into a blur of pixels and faces were not visible... I was concerned because the disc was painted a mono-toned gray color instead of the color that it comes from the manufacturer... this gray color is famous at netflix for the re-burnt discs they are allowed to make by the people who sell them their licenses... with them it's legal, with this I was wondering. Disc two and three would not play in my machine and that's when I gave up and sent them back.

Great viewing
Hard to stop watching. Love to watch a disc at a time. Acting and script are great, the video quality leaves a little to be desired.

Chiller - The Complete Television Series

Relatively Average Scares But Not Much 'Chill' In CHILLER
Anthology series can always be a mixed bag when it comes to delivering true entertainment value, and that's mostly due to the fact that there's very little thread to connect one story to another; as such, there's usually some noticeable differences in quality storytelling and performances and direction from each hour (or half-hour) to the next. CHILLER: THE COMPLETE TELEVISION SERIES is a far cry from the glory days of the anthology format (THE TWILIGHT ZONE), and, at best, it serves up five respectable stories - mostly family-friendly, though there are a few splashes of blood here and there - that have been done before. Still, it's a pretty benign way to kill roughly 265 minutes if you're interested.

not as chilling as you may think....
this britsh seires,has some good and bad..stories...i can see why it only lasted for one season..still in order to enjoy different..foods you have to taste it first..so that's how it is with this dvd..it may be ok for me..but you may really enjoy it...maybe rent before you buy...tell me what you think...may the "b's" be with you...

Doctor Who: The Beginning (An Unearthly Child / The Daleks / The Edge of Destruction) (Stories 1 - 3)

The Original!
This is the first three stories from the first Doctor William Hartnell: The Unearthly Child, The Daleks and The Edge of Destruction. Plus loads of extra features. The product description names the wrong actor. The packaging has been updated but the content is the same as the other listings for Doctor Who: The Beginning.
It's great fun to watch the old shows. The remastering is very good considering the age and condition of the original tapes. I'm very glad these first episodes survived to live again.

Just a quick update. The actors name has been fixed in the product description. I dont know how common this mistake will be but the disks 2 and 3 have their labels reversed on my copy. Its not a problem for me. All the proper content is there just the wrong labels.

Careful on the order of the DVD's.
I am enjoying seeing the beginning of the Who series but as I was going through my discs I put in disc two only to realize that disc two is actually disc three and vice versa. It may be a freak occurrence but for order sake check the episode selection first to make sure you are on the right disc!

A must-have for any collection.
This box set is a must have for any Doctor Who fan interested in the classic era. These first three stories along with a short recon of the missing fourth serial is important to the Doctor Who Universe.

Unearthly Child is an amazing tale, and the first episode on its own could be watched as a singular story. It is an imaginative look into a strange individual called the Doctor. If anything, this story is worth the lead up to the Doctor and Ian's confrontation about Intervention vs. Leaving Well Enough Alone. The seed of trust and helping could very well be born in this moment. The First Doctor is known to be a grumpy old fool, but it is his experiences that shape the personalities of Doctors to come.

The Daleks is a necessity. No one knew at the time what a cultural icon they would become, but indeed this story led to one of the greatest sci-fi enemies of all time. Clunky and slow, watching these creatures is still mesmerizing. Although there are...

A Merciless And Profane Black Comedy From Showtime With Don Cheadle In The Role Of His Life
Without a doubt, Showtime's "House of Lies" was one of my most eagerly awaited programs of 2012. Headlined by Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell, the previews for this blistering sitcom looked bawdy, over-the-top, and merciless. There's nothing that I enjoy more than brutal satire, dark humor, and pushing the boundaries of traditional television. So my expectations were through the roof. And for the most part, I was completely satisfied (if not instantly blown away) with the end result. By being on Showtime, "House of Lies" definitely makes the most of its adult situations with outrageous language, unrepentant viciousness, and frank sexual discussions and partnerships. In many ways, though, I felt "House of Lies" trying too hard to be provocative. Everything is done at such extremes, the program rarely settles enough to get you to actually care about its protagonists. They are a questionable bunch, to be sure, but I'd have appreciated a few more grounded moments amidst the mayhem to make...

What I really liked:

1.) Having seen management consultant firms in action, I always questioned the value of their ideas, when in most cases they had at best a basic understanding of what "my" business entailed? I have had some fun in this respect in the past

2.) The MA rating allows for no punches to be pulled. Constant sex, foul language and adult situations abound!

Gregg Allman: I'm No Angel- Live on Stage

WAY BETTER THAN EXPECTED
This will be a classic, lots of close up face shots of Gregg and the rest of the band. Gregg's vocals are right on target, Dan Toler's guitar playing is as tasty as it gets. Great song selection, I have nine DVD's of the Allman Brothers and this is one of the best. Sound quality is great I would say 9/10 picture is 8/9, for the time period I can't complain at all. This is a true must have and the only DVD I have seen of Gregg's solo band's, I can't imagine an Allman fan not excited about this release. Only down fall is it is 52 min., I hope they have more of this type of footage available in the near future. I can't get enough of this one.

This concert is a good introduction to Gregg Allman. It runs at a good clip with only a 52 minute running time, and there are no lengthy jams as the Allman Brothers Band was prone to do. Ten songs in a small setting with a decent crowd, and you get just enough to satisfy. This is a full screen presentation that seems as if it were taken from a TV broadcast, so the picture is decent, but nothing special. You get a choice of stereo or "Simulated" 5.1 surround sound. For a 1988 concert, I can't imagine the 5.1 blowing me away that much, so the stereo was a fine option for me. Also, being from 1988, this concert was recorded at the height of the band's career as the charting single "I'm No Angel" is included in the setlist. (Hence, the concerts title.) There is a good all around live mix for the band, and all the instruments are heard well through the stereo speakers. This is a basic blues and boogie outing by the band, with the exception of the title track and "Slip Away", so be...

Rare 80's Gregg Allman video
This is a good example of what Gregg Allman was doing in the eighties, after the Allman Brothers Band broke up. I saw the Gregg Allman band a few times during that time period, and this is a good representation of that sound. Features the late Dan Toler on guitar. The sound and video are both very good.
